This is an implementation of "Suika Game" in the Godot Engine. It is open source and the code can be seen here: https://github.com/Checkroth/yokai-suika

My seven year old son is the director and principal artist for this game. "Suika Game" is popular in his school and he expressed an interest in making a copy of it with his own art together.

It exists to serve three primary purposes:

  1.  An activity with my son, to encourage him and work together on making a game (hopefully, we will make many more simple games in the future!)
  2. Learning Godot Engine: I have been picking up game development myself, and while a professional software developer I am a novice in the video game domain. This was a nice small-scope project to get the hang of things.
  3. Architecture example & blog post: The game is implemented using a custom resource & self-referential constructor architecture I hope to use for more complex games. Technical details are available in the github page. I intend to eventually write a blog post on my website when I find the time.

If you would like to support me, you can donate on my ko-fi page.

If you would like to encourage my son, you can also donate on my ko-fi page and leave in the comment that it is for the child, and I will make sure it goes to him.
